The Cobras need 15 runs to win while the Lions need one more wicket for victory, as we wrap day 2 of the 4-Day Franchise Series fixtures.
Cobras vs Lions
The Cobras took their score from 106/8 to 129, with Jason Smith ending on an unbeaten 68. The Lions were holding onto a comfortable 86-run lead. They aimed to extend this and put themselves in a winning position.
The Lions’ second innings was more troublesome than the Cobras’ first innings. George Linde starred again with the ball, he added 7 wickets to his 4 on day one, to end with 11/131 over two innings. They bowled the Lions out for 119. This left the Cobras with 205 runs to chase.
The Cobras’ top order crumbled again, with Kyle Verreynne’s half-century keeping his side in the game. The Cobras need 15 runs to win, while the Lions need one wicket for victory.
Knights vs Warriors
The Knights only added 7 runs to their day one total and were bowled out for 299 with Jon-Jon Smuts ending with 5/56.
The Bloemfontein side then bowled out the Warriors for 196 with Shaun von Berg (4/78) and Mbulelo Budaza (3/28) taking a majority of the wickets. Sinethemba Qeshile starred for his side with 73. The Knights then extended their lead to 134 runs by the end of the day’s play.
Titans vs Dolphins
The Titans ended day one on 316/5 and went on to finish their innings having scored 441. Farhaan Behardien went on to record the second 100 of the competition thus far. He scored 114 off 178 balls (16 fours and 1 six). Dayyaan Galiem was also key to their first innings total with a cameo 44.
The Dolphins through Grant Roelofsen (79) and Marques Ackerman (69) got the Dolphins on track but both lost their wickets. They ended their day on 188/3.
