Tazmin Brits and Nondumiso Shangase both score centuries to see their teams to comfortable victories on Day 5 of the Women’s One Day Tournament.
Northerns vs North West:
North West’s Tazmin Brits top-scored on Game Day 5, scoring 114 runs off 73 balls, at a very healthy strike rate of 156.16, with fifteen 4s and three 6s. Brits was the only one to get into double figures and then triple figures, almost single-handedly winning the game with the bat for North West. Northerns batted first, scoring 143-9 in their 50 overs.
Amogelang Maphangula top-scored with 42 off 72 (seven 4s). Nthabiseng Nini and Evodia Yekile of North West both picked up 3 wickets apiece in their 10 overs each. Northerns chased the score down in 30.3 overs, finishing on 145-5. Ricea Coetzer was the pick of the bowlers for Northerns, picking up 4 wickets and finishing with figures of 4-44 in 6.3 overs (economy of 6.77). North West won by 5 wickets.
KZN Coastal vs Easterns:
Nondumiso Shangase top-scored for KZN Coastal, scoring 104 off 132, with twelve 4s. Contributions from opening batter Courtney Gounden (59) and Chloe Tryon (57), helped Coastal reach 287-4 in their 50 overs. Alysia Rudolph was the stand-out bowler for Easterns picking up 1 wicket and finishing with figures of 1-25 in her 10 overs. Needing 288 for victory, Easterns were bowled out for 173 in 44.5 overs. Jenna Searle top-scored for Easterns with 59 off 95, including five 4s. Jade de Figueredo was the pick of the bowlers for KZN Coastal, picking up a fifer. She finished with figures of 5-31 in 8.5 overs (economy of 3.51). KZN Coastal won by a big margin of 114 runs.
