Neil Brand scored the first 100 of the 4-Day Franchise Series as we wrap up day one of the first round of fixtures.

Neil Brand recorded his maiden 4-Day Domestic Series century on a dominant opening day of the 2019/20 season for the Titans as they took early control of their clash against the Dolphins in Centurion on Monday.

The 23-year-old left-hander, who saw his stock rise with some excellent performances for the University Sports South Africa XI during the winter, was the top-scorer with 106 (170 balls, 15 fours) to help his side close on 316/5.

Raynard van Tonder recorded a half-century but four wickets from Jon-Jon Smuts meant the Warriors fought back to end the opening day of the new 4-Day Domestic Series season with honours even against the Knights in Kimberley on Monday. They finished on 292-7 with former SA U19 stars Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen at the crease.

A total of 18 wickets fell on the opening day of the 4-Day Domestic Series season in Potchefstroom but it was the innings of Kagiso Rapulana that helped the Lions take control of their clash against last term’s runners-up, the Cape Cobras, on Monday.

The right-hander withstood all that was going on around him with a defiant unbeaten 84 (130 balls, 10 fours) as the hosts posted what appeared to be a below-par 215 all out at Senwes Park.

But they then reduced the visitors to 106/8 at stumps, still a substantial 109 runs ahead after the opening day of action. Jason Smith (54*) will look to save his side.
