South Africa are in firm control of the 1st Test against Sri Lanka after setting a target of 516 and reducing the visitors to 103-5 on Day 3.
A dominant batting display from Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma highlighted the day.
The pair scored the joint-second-highest fourth-wicket partnership for South Africa and the joint-highest at Durban. Bavuma and Stubbs scored 249.
Stubbs became the first South African in six years to score a century at Kingsmead in Durban, reaching his ton first out of the two batters.
Bavuma followed with his third career century.
After taking SA to 338, Stubbs was the first to go for 122 off 221 balls. Bavuma was next to go after his 113 off 228 balls.
The Proteas had taken their lead past 500 when the skipper lost his wicket.
South Africa declared on 366-5 with a lead of 516.
In response, the Proteas did well to start their pursuit of 10 wickets for victory.
Jansen (2-22), Rabada (2-22) and Coetzee (1-39) all took wickets before the end of the day’s play.
Sri Lanka ended Day 3 with 103-5 on the board, needing 413 to win.
