Babar Azam scored his maiden century to bury the Proteas as Pakistan chased down 204 to beat the Proteas by 9 wickets.

After the Proteas posted 203/5 thanks to entertaining half-centuries from Aiden Markram (63 off 31 balls) and Janneman Malan (55 runs off 40 balls), Pakistan’s reply was lethal.

They gave the Proteas the same treatment, with interest, as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan kept the runs flowing with ease.

The Proteas bowling was too loose and inconsistent, giving the Pakistani opening pair a number of scoring options, with too many short deliveries. There was also some fragile fielding which gifted extra runs to the visitors.

It took something special to chase down 204, a record partnership for Pakistan for any wicket. They brought up 150 in 14 overs.

Azam scored the highest ever score for Pakistan in T20Is. His 122 came off 59 ball and included 15 fours and 4 sixes.

Rizwan must be commended for his performance as he scored 73 off 47 balls (5 fours and 2 sixes).

Fakhar Zaman finished the game with two fours to secure the victory with two overs to spare.
