Australia put in a dominant display with bat and ball to claim a 123-run victory in the 2nd ODI against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

The Proteas put Australia in to bat and it was a brilliant performance by the visitors.

Two centuries were scored by the men in yellow, one by David Warner (106 off 93 balls) and one by Marnus Labuschagne (124 off 99 balls) which helped them post the second-highest score at the Mangaung Oval.

There were two other handy contributions, one at the top of the order and one in the middle-to lower order which was integral to their batting performance.

A 109-run partnership between David Warner and Travis Head (64 off 36 balls) got the Aussies off to a flyer before a double-wicket over from Tabraiz Shamsi reduced Australia to 109-2 after 12 overs.

Then came a record third-wicket partnership between the centurions, 150 runs off 124 deliveries, which took Australia to 260 before Warner was bowled by Andile Phehlukwayo.

Another quick partnership of 83 off 62 balls between Labuschagne and Josh Inglis (50 off 37 balls) took Australia 343-4 when Rabada broke the partnership and stalled the Aussies slightly.

More wickets fell but the prized wicket was that of Labuschagne, which was taken by Shamsi, he finished off with figures of 4-61.

Australia posted 392-8 in their 50 overs.

South Africa got their innings off to a blitz start. De Kock’s 45 off 30 balls was key to taking them to 81 in 9.1 overs before he hit it straight to the bowler Ellis.

He was aided well by Bavuma in an 81-run stand, but SA needed De Kock to hang around a little longer than he did.

Nonetheless, South Africa after 12 overs were not far off Australia’s total at that stage, they managed 99-1, 10 runs shy of the visitors at that time. Unfortunately, they lost a second wicket, Bavuma out for 46 off 40 balls in the 13th over.

Regular wickets kept SA out of the game – Rassie van der Dussen (17) and Aiden Markram (3) failed to impress.

Heinrich Klaasen impressed for his 49 off 36 balls (3 sixes and 3 fours) but he lost his wicket at a crucial time to reduce SA to 177-5 after 26.3 overs.

Miller (49 off 52 balls) and Marco Jansen put on a partnership of 64, but it came to an end when the former lost his wicket with South Africa reduced to 241-6 after 35.1 overs.

South Africa capitulated from there on out. They were all out for 269.
