Aiden Markram (83*) carried South Africa A as they posted 159-5 in reply to India A’s 417 on day two of the 2nd unofficial Test.
India A extended their hold on South Africa A by adding 184 runs to their overnight score.
India A’s young star Shubman Gill was his side’s top scorer with 92, while the visitors middle order combined to terrorize the Proteas bowlers – Karun Nair (78), Wriddhiman Saha (60), Shivam Dube (68) and Jalaj S Saxena (48 not out). The hosts finished their innings on 417.
Wiaan Mulder added two wickets to the one he took on day one and recording figures of 3/47.
Dane Piedt once again impressed taking 3/78 while Vernon Philander proved his fitness by bowling a total of 19 overs and taking 1/45.
South Africa A started off their innings once again by losing Pieter Malan for a single-figure score, he was dismissed for 6.
Aiden Markram and Theunis de Bruyn sparked the recovery as they took SA A to 102 before De Bruyn lost his wicket on 41.
Markram struggled to find a solid partner from there on out. Khaya Zondo (5), Senuran Muthusamy (12) and Heinrich Klaasen (2) failing to support SA A’s in-form man.
South Africa ended day two on 159-5 with Markram and Wiaan Mulder at the crease.
