A Modern Online Marketing Manifesto

Part 1: Introduction

Hi,

I'm Faizel, the Co-Founder of Cricket Fanatics Magazine.

I'm usually in the background, keeping the systems running.

But I've come out of my hole to announce the release of a Modern Online Marketing Manifesto.

The Manifesto was originally released in bite-sized chunks via email to a select audience and is now being made available online.

It has been written for Small and Medium Enterprises to give a different perspective on modern online marketing and teach a framework that's based on fundamental truths and the harsh realities of what it really takes to market a business online.

But, before I go further...

If you don't think this is for you, close this article now. I don't want you to waste your time.

I know how precious your time is.

I wrote this Manifesto as I see so many small businesses struggling to survive, let alone thrive.

Depending on who you ask, you will find that up to 80% of all small businesses fail.

And one of the biggest reasons for failure is not enough sales.

Origins

In 2014, I left full-time employment after thirty years of designing, building and managing systems in the corporate world.

I've been working part-time and online ever since.

I was an Information Systems Manager, managing Business Intelligence, Human Resources, Finance and Customer Systems for an international fashion retailer at the time.

But when I started setting up the systems for my small business and helping other small businesses with theirs, I realised everything I learned was wrong!

I was copying what I learned in the corporate world.

But I didn't have the same resources as multi-million dollar businesses.

I soon realised that if we copied them, we would run out of cash and be doomed to failure.

I've shut down my fair share of initiatives because of this.

When I co-founded Cricket Fanatics Magazine in 2019, with my son, Khalid, it was my most ambitious project yet.

We didn't have lots of cash and we were competing with multi-million dollar media companies.

Yet, today we are well known among the top echelons in South African cricket, have accreditation to attend games and events, and have interviewed some of the biggest names in South African Cricket.

We also have a steadily growing fan base.

And we did this through a pandemic without games happening.

The experience I gained running a multi-platform digital publication, the knowledge and experience gained in the corporate world, and lots of learning along the way, prompted me to design an online marketing system for small and medium enterprises.

I've documented the strategy in a Manifesto, which I will deliver via a series of articles.

As a consultant, I could easily charge for this via consulting, coaching or paid courses.

But, I'm making it free, as I want Small and Medium Sized businesses to have a system that's affordable and effective.

It will also be a prerequisite to read it should anyone want to purchase my services or want to reach our audience.

I also won't be holding back either. I promise to tell the whole truth, not just partial truths to get you to buy something.

This is one of the "secrets" revealed in the Manifesto. (Is it still a secret if it's in plain sight?)

Ok. Enough said.

Let's see what's in the Manifesto.

Here are some of the topics covered in the Manifesto

  • The fundamental truths (that nobody is telling you).
  • What makes a small an medium enterprise different.
  • Applying systems thinking to your marketing.
  • How to design marketing campaigns that work.
  • How to implement your campaign affordably and effectively.

If you think this answers some of the questions roaming in your head, then the Manifesto will go a long way towards answering these questions.

But you have to take action. Nothing happens if you don't take action.

Don't simply read the Manifesto.

Apply it.

So, buckle up! We are going on a bumpy and exciting ride.

In the next article, we will look at Goals and Objectives of a Modern Online Marketing System.

Regards and Best Wishes,
