Marco Jansen made a bold move to sign with the Warriors, adding youthful exuberance and fire to Robin Peterson’s side, writes Khalid Mohidin.
The 19-year-old seamer all-rounder’s career kicked off after a stellar Khaya Majola Week in Cape Town two years ago. He then represented the country at U19 level, emerging and SA A level.
Shortly after, he signed a contract with the Durban Heat, but despite the quick rise and variety in playing opportunities, he hasn’t played much games and only featured in a couple of matches for the Knights.

Now he’s made the switch to the Warriors where has a perfect opportunity to grow and showcase his talent.
“I’ve decided to leave because of playing opportunity,” said Jansen exclusively to Cricket Fanatics Magazine.
“I’m very excited to work with Robin Peterson and for the new challenges ahead.
“I’m looking forward to playing with Anrich Nortje if he is not playing for the Proteas, and I’m aiming to bring good energy, a fighting spirit and a never-give-up no matter what mindset.”
Jansen is a unique player. He’s a left-arm seamer, and is 2 meters tall, which gives him a unique attribute which can’t be taught.
Warriors coach Peterson is building a fresh, young, balanced squad with a lot of unique variety and Jansen is a great addition to their side.
Jansen finished off the conversation with a word of thanks to those who helped make his transition at the Knights easier.
“There are a few people who I’m thankful for helping me with my game,” he concluded.
“I’d like to thank Allan Donald for helping me a lot with my bowling, Dillon du Preez was one of the people who I could always talk to in difficult times and coach JP Triegaardt for always believing in my ability.”
