Australian batsman Ben Dunk’s unbeaten half-century powered the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants to a nine-wicket bonus-point win, after three wickets from Junior Dala and Imran Tahir skittled the defending champions, Jozi Stars, for 108 at the Bullring.
Dunk’s 50* included four fours and two sixes at a strike rate 166 while World Cup 2019 Winner, Jason Roy (12-ball 31) showed signs of coming back to form after a disappointing first match where he bagged a first-ball duck.
It was an incredible performance by the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants’ international stars and the 2800 fans at the Wanderers did not warrant the incredible performance by the pair.
The Mzansi Super League has produced some entertaining performances and this was yet another one, that the Johannesburg public missed out on.
Chasing only 108 runs to win, the Giants sealed the victory in just 9.1 overs.
They also missed out on an incredible bowling performance from Proteas superstar Imran Tahir who took 3/23 and Junior Dala who finished with 3/19.
This meant that the Stars have lost four consecutive matches in MSL 2.0.
The Giants top the log-standings with Cape Town Blitz sitting in the second position after both teams played three games.
