A summary of Round 2 of the 4-Day series matches, which took place around the country from 2-5 October 2025.
Western Province vs Lions
The home side were sent in to bat first at Newlands and the Lions took fool advantage of the favourable bowling conditions in the morning session.
WP found themselves in big trouble on 80-7 after 17.4 overs.
If it wasn’t for their stand-in captain, Daniel Smith, they looked like they would never pass the 100-run mark.
Smith hit 102 off 91 balls (18 fours). He was dismissed with his side on 168.
Western Province only managed to score 193 in 45 overs.
Evan Jones took 4-58.
The Lions’ response was ruthless. They scored 552/9d.
Mitchell van Buuren scored 126 off 253 balls (16 fours, 1 six) and Connor Esterhuizen scored a maiden century – 175 off 260 balls (22 fours and 5 sixes).
WP only managed 225 in response.
Lions won by an innings and 134 runs.
Boland vs Dolphins
Boland won the toss and elected to bat in Paarl.
It wasn’t a good start by the home side, they were 156 all out, with Lehan Botha top scoring with 45 not out.
Tristan Luus took 4-42 as the Dolphins’ top bowler.
The reply from the visitors was solid. They scored 346 with Tshepang Dithole leading from the front with his 116 off 172 balls (12 fours). Khaya Zondo also contributed with a milestone, scoring 61.
Glenton Stuurman took 4-46 for the hosts.
Boland’s reply was superb and kept them in the game. Their top order did what they are paid to do. Pieter Malan scored 157 off 308 balls (19 fours), Grant Roelofsen and Gavin Kaplan both scored 67.
Tristan Luus took another three wickets to finish with seven in the match. The Dolphins needed 214 to win on the final day, after finishing Day 3 on 49-1.
They chased down the required target, 60s from Tshepang Dithole and Bryce Parsons key to the chase. They managed to reach 264-5, winning by 5 wickets.
North West vs Titans
The Dragons won the toss in Potchefstroom and were dominant with the bat. They scored 491/8d in their first innings. Meeka-Eel Prince was superb with a 142 off 258 balls (12 fours, 4 sixes), while Wihan Lubbe (75), Rubin Hermann (69) and Dian Forrester (94) all managed half-centuries. Schalk Engelbrecht took 4-179, bowling 50 overs.
The hosts then bowled the Titans out for 262. Lhuan-Dre Pretorius (70) and Donovan Ferreira (71) scored half-centuries, which were crucial to a avoid the follow-on. Nineties from Lesiba Ngoepe (99) and Wihan Lubbe (91) helped North West post 225/6d pushing the lead to 455.
Engelbrecht took three more wickets to take his tally to seven in the match.
North West took two late wickets at the end of Day 3. The Titans needed to score 424 on the final day.
Despite a 119 from Keagan Petersen and a 60 from Dayyaan Galiem, the Titans were bowled out for 258, losing by 196 runs.
Tuskers vs Warriors
Rain and bad light affected the first two days, with only 92 overs possible, but day three saw full play and set up a potential result heading into the final day in Pietermaritzburg.
The Warriors were bowled out for 140, with Thomas Kaber’s 50 not out the only decent score.
Daryn Dupavillion’s 4-28 and Hardus Viljoen’s 3-25 were key to skirling the visitors.
Cameron Shekleton held the Tuskers’ innings together with a gritty 59 not out, to give the hosts a lead. They were bowled out, however, for 185. Matthew Boast (5-52) and Kerwin Mungroo (4-43) were superb with the ball for the Warriors.
In reply, the Warriors were resilient. Muhammad Manack (59) and Matthew Breetzke (50*) led the Warriors’ fightback with crucial half-centuries, after early wickets left them struggling on 20/2.
By stumps on day three, the Warriors were 157/3, holding a decent lead with Breetzke (50) and Matthew de Villiers (30) at the crease, leaving the match finely poised for the final day.
Breetzke converted to a century and De Villiers to a half-century. The Warriors declared on 269-6.
The Dolphins only managed to score 136-4 and the match was drawn.
